Teaching Philosophy and Approach

My teaching philosophy is grounded in connecting theory to practice. With over two decades of leadership experience in financial reporting, securitization, and portfolio management, I bring real-world application directly into the classroom. I emphasize analytical rigor, practical modeling skills, and decision-making under uncertainty—ensuring students understand not only how financial systems work, but why they matter in dynamic markets.

I am particularly committed to experiential learning. Students engage in case-based discussions, financial modeling exercises, and scenario analysis drawn from real portfolio acquisitions, system integrations, and securitization structures. My goal is to equip students with technical competence, ethical grounding, and professional confidence. I strive to be accessible and responsive, creating an environment where students feel supported while being challenged to perform at a high level.

Research Interests and Expertise

My professional expertise centers on financial reporting systems, securitization structures, portfolio acquisition and divestiture strategy, and internal control frameworks (SOX/COSO). I am especially interested in how automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics are transforming financial planning, reporting accuracy, and risk management within large-scale lending and leasing environments.

Having led accounting and reporting functions for multi-billion-dollar portfolios, I focus on improving transparency, control integrity, and cross-platform reporting consistency. These areas are increasingly important as financial institutions manage complex asset classes and regulatory expectations while leveraging machine learning and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting and credit evaluation.
